Recent studies have shown most honor killings in Western nations are committed by immigrants who bring their cultural values back to the States and remain in conflict about their viewpoints. An example of such a case was seen with Noor Faleh Almaleki and her father.
In this case, the setting was in the heart of America (Phoenix) where the Almaleki family lived.

She had moved to the United States with her parents in the 90s. At the time, Noor Faleh Almaleki was adjusting to living in the area and started to assimilate with the rest of the population. This ended up becoming one of the main reasons that perturbed the father and led to the honor killing later on.
